Doodle Match (“the app”) is a doodling and memory game. This policy explains how the app handles your information. In short: drawing collects nothing, publishing a deck to Explore is the one thing that leaves your device and only when you choose it, and finishing someone else's published deck adds one to a counter on that deck, with nothing recorded about you.
Nothing is collected. There is no account, no sign-in, and no network connection involved in creating decks or playing them. The decks you draw — your drawings, the grid sizes, your best scores and how often you have played each deck — and your app settings are stored on your device only. Deleting the app removes them. Finishing a deck that someone else published adds one to that deck's play count on our servers, which is the only thing playing ever sends.
If you choose to publish a deck, these things are sent to our servers (Google Firebase) and stored there:
Your own scores are not sent. Your best flip counts, and the record of how often you have played a deck, describe your history with it rather than the deck itself, and they stay on your device. The play count above is the deck's total across everybody, with nobody identified in it.
An account is created only at the moment you first publish, using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. We receive an account identifier from them. We do not request or store your name or email address.
Publishing needs an account for two reasons: so a deck stays attributable to you, and so you can take it down later or delete everything you have published. You can delete your account at any time — see deleting your account.
If you report a deck, we record that the deck was reported. Reporting does not require an account and we do not record who reported what. Blocking an author is stored on your device only and is never sent to us.
The app uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions) to host published decks, and the Google Cloud Vision API to check a deck's image automatically before it appears in Explore. Google processes this data on our behalf as our service provider.
There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone for their own purposes. The play count is the only thing we measure, it exists so authors can see that their decks are being played, and it is not tied to any person or device.
Published decks are kept while they are published. When you take a deck down or delete your account, the deck leaves Explore, and we keep a record that a set of drawings was first published at a given time so that authorship disputes can be settled.
Doodle Match is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. Explore shows drawings published by other people, so it is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
You can use the whole app — drawing, playing, and saving decks — without ever creating an account or sending us anything. Publishing is always your decision, and anything you publish can be taken down by you at any time.
